Newport Classic Cruises (A Classic Harbor Line Company) is the operating company of the Schooner Adirondack II Schooner Madeleine, Sloop Eleanor, and Yacht Rum Runner II.We have been running sightseeing trips out of Newport Harbor since 1994. We specialize in giving both Newport locals and visitors the opportunity to enjoy a memorable sailing experience in Newport.
Our Crew, including all captains, mates, and on-land representatives at Newport Classic Cruises, are what make the experience on our beautiful boats truly magical. We have maintained a consistent history of not only operating with a professional staff, but also with warm and inviting hosts. Our Captains
All of our captains are Coast Guard certified. The schooner captains all have a minimum 50-ton license and a sailing endorsement. Our captains are also trained in first aid and CPR, and are registered in an ongoing drug-testing program. Perhaps of equal importance, we require that our captains have an appreciation for quality service and a knowledge of local history and folklore.
Our Mates
All of the mates with Newport Classic Cruises undergo extensive safety and marine training. Most of the mates also have extensive sailing, racing and/or teaching experience on smaller sailing vessels.
Our mates are widely remembered for their remarkable hospitality and personality which is consistently praised in our customer reviews. They love talking with our guests, getting to know where they are from, sharing information on the historic city of Newport, and conveying their love for classic-style vessels and the addictive mystique of being out on the water.
