Charter the Schooner Adirondack II

Traditional Sailing on the Schooner Adirondack II

General Information

Private charters are available for any unique and special experience. Get the vessel all to yourself, as you take to the waters of Newport aboard this majestic 80-foot sailboat. The Adirondack II is certified for up to 60 guests, although there is no minimum number of guests required for a charter. Unlike many historic schooners, she was built and designed with a spacious cockpit specifically for carrying passengers; so, even with a full boat, all have room to sit and move about the decks comfortably.

Adirondack II is a U.S. Coast Guard certified vessel sailing with U.S. Coast Guard licensed captains and only the most experienced and hospitable crew. She is equipped with life jackets for all, two bathrooms, blankets for cool evenings, and beverages on all trips. Whether you're planning a corporate outing or special event, we are happy to accommodate your specific needs. A variety of catering and bar packages are available upon request.

To inquire about charter availability, you must provide us with a date and a specific time frame. A two hour minimum is required. Generally this is enough time to sail through Newport Harbor and up to the Castle Hill Light House. We will also sail north under the Newport Bridge upon request.

Team-BuildersTeam Building onboard Schooner Adirondack II

The schooner has a fun, competitive and educational team-building program involving a set of contests that require communication, teamwork and planning skills. With these hands-on activities, teams will not only have a great time, but will also collectively learn quite a bit about the basics of sailing and line-handling. To ensure the safety of all the participants, team-builders start off with an on-deck safety session and a crew member is assigned to each team to ensure that each guest has a great time and stays out of harm’s way while competing.

The program can last 2-4 hours, depending on the number of guests and activities included. There should be 2-5 teams created for the charter with 3-7 members on each team. (35 guests is the max for a hands-on team-builder).

Team-builders are often ended with a picnic luncheon and an optional open bar.

Catering

While you are welcome to arrange oustide catering, the Schooner Adirondack II has teamed up with several prominant local caterers to provide several menus to acommodate all occasions. Our partners include Newport Restaurant Group (the company behind some of Newport's finest restaurants including the Smokehouse Cafe, 22 Bowens, and the Mooring) and McGrath's Clambakes. Whether you want a formal dinner, or a few light appetizers, our varied menus covers it all:

We will receive, prep, serve, and clean up all catering for your group. However, if you are arranging outside catering, please only order food that your guests can easily eat with just a napkin. Small, passable platters are encouraged, as are sandwiches, wraps, and skewered items. There is no galley access, and there are no tables, plates or place settings.
